Riverside Camp & Meals

Each night, you’ll camp on a spacious white sand beach along the Salmon River Canyon, the second deepest canyon in North America. As the sun drops behind the canyon walls and the river settles into evening calm, camp becomes your private riverside retreat.

Your tent is set up before you arrive, sleeping pads are inflated, and camp chairs and shaded dining areas are ready and waiting. There’s time to explore, build sandcastles, play games, or simply relax by the water.

Meals are prepared fresh by your guides and feature hearty breakfasts, scenic riverside lunches, Dutch oven dinners, hors d’oeuvres, and homemade desserts. It’s thoughtful, satisfying river dining that turns camping into something truly comfortable.

The 3-day trip spreads the journey out, giving you more time to relax on the river, swim in calm stretches, fish along the banks, and enjoy long summer evenings at camp. It’s a more laid-back way to experience the Salmon River while still enjoying the same exciting whitewater and scenery.

Getting to your Salmon River rafting adventure is simple and scenic! Mountain River Outfitters (MRO) is based in Riggins, Idaho, just 3 hours north of Boise2 hours south of Lewiston, and about 4 hours from either Spokane or Missoula.

If you’re traveling with a group, Sawtooth Shuttles offers convenient transportation from Boise directly to Riggins — a great option for seamless group travel.

Mountain River Outfitters operates under a special use permit with the Salmon-Challis National Forest for Main Salmon River (SA-6) float boating. MRO also operates under several BLM special use permits for Nez Perce National Forest, BLM Lower Salmon River Cottonwood Field Office and Owyhee River (SA7A, SA7B, SA7C, SA8).
