Experience a shorter but action packed stretch of the Salmon River in Riggins, Idaho’s whitewater capital. This half day trip focuses on some of the river’s most exciting rapids, balanced with scenic canyon views and calmer stretches to catch your breath.

You’ll raft beneath the Seven Devils Mountains and along the edge of vast wilderness areas, experiencing the same iconic scenery in a condensed format.

Select rapids may include Ruby, Lake Creek, Time Zone, Trap Creek, and other splashy Class III–IV features depending on water levels.

Mountain River Outfitters is based in Riggins, Idaho, a small river town located about 3 hours north of Boise, 2 hours south of Lewiston, and roughly 4 hours from Spokane or Missoula.

 

Once you arrive in Riggins, we handle the rest. Our team coordinates transportation, gear, and all river logistics so you can focus on enjoying the experience. Just get to town, meet your guides, and your Salmon River adventure begins.

Higher flows, bigger waves, and cooler temperatures. Splash gear is recommended during this time.

Inflatable Kayak

Paddle Raft

A stern-mounted frame allows your guide to control the raft while guests paddle together through the whitewater, creating an active and engaging river experience.

SUP Board

Stand-up paddle boards are available on multi-day trips for guests who want to try something different. Paddle near camp or test your skills on select Class II or III rapids if you’re feeling adventurous.

Mountain River Outfitters operates under a special use permit with the Salmon-Challis National Forest for Main Salmon River (SA-6) float boating. MRO also operates under several BLM special use permits for Nez Perce National Forest, BLM Lower Salmon River Cottonwood Field Office and Owyhee River (SA7A, SA7B, SA7C, SA8). Mountain River Outfitters is insured, licensed and bonded outfitters by the State of Idaho’s IOGLB and are equal opportunity recreation service providers and employers.
